Sources
Folders - ONA.UNO Docs
Point ONA.UNO at any folder on your Mac, and its contents become searchable and summarized.
What It Does
The Folder source watches a directory and indexes all supported files inside it. New files appear in your timeline automatically. Edits trigger re-processing. Deletions remove items from ONA.UNO.
Your files stay where they are — ONA.UNO only reads and indexes them.
Sources are configured per Set. If you use multiple Sets (libraries), add folders to the Set you want them to appear in. See Sets (Libraries).

Supported File Types
- Text and Markdown — read directly
- PDFs — text extraction, including OCR for scanned documents
- Images — OCR extracts visible text from photos and screenshots
- HTML files — readable text is extracted automatically, even from large single-file exports
Binary files and unsupported formats are skipped.
Key Features
OCR for PDFs and Images
Scanned documents and images aren’t just stored — ONA.UNO extracts their text using optical character recognition. This means you can search for words inside a photograph of a whiteboard or a scanned receipt.
Real-Time Watching
Changes are picked up automatically. Save a new file, edit an existing one, or delete something — ONA.UNO updates within seconds.
HTML Readability
ONA.UNO extracts the readable text from HTML files, picking the best extraction method for each file automatically. This works even for very large pages and single-file exports — content is never silently truncated. Summaries, chat, and copy operations all use the same extracted text.
